1What does it cost?

Nothing. Everything on CreativeUs is free while we are getting started — putting up a profile, posting work, applying, messaging, all of it.

If that ever changes we will say so here first, and nothing you have already put up will be taken away or locked behind a payment.

2Somebody asked me for money. Is that normal?

No, and it is the one rule we will not bend on. Nobody here may ask you for money to be considered for work — not to register, not to audition, not for training, and not as a deposit. Never pay to get work has what the messages look like and what to do, including if you have already paid.

3Who is it for?

The people who make films and photographs in India: camera, lighting, sound, art and wardrobe, production, post and colour, photographers, wedding crews and content creators.

It is one kind of account. Anybody can be hired and anybody can hire — you do not pick a side when you join, and you are never stuck on the one you picked.

4How does work reach me?

From the crafts you picked, the city you work in and the days you said you are free. Nothing else. There is no follower count and no score behind it.

Find work says why each job is in your list — your craft, your free days, how far it is — and the kinds of work that reach you are yours to set, on Settings, under “Work you want”.

5What is a confirmed credit?

A job you did that the person who hired you has said you did. It is the thing a hirer looks at here instead of a follower count.

You add the work, and we ask the other side to confirm it. They do not have to be on CreativeUs — a client who has never heard of us gets one email with two buttons, yes or no, and nothing to sign up for. Until somebody confirms it, the work still goes on your profile as your own account of the job.

6Can I hire people here?

Yes, from the same account. Post work from the Work page. If you are hiring as yourself you need a verified email address, and your first piece of work is read by a person before it goes live. If you are hiring as a business, the business is checked first — For hirers has the whole of it.

7Why is my role not on the list?

Because the list is fixed on purpose: if everybody typed their own job title, “DOP”, “D.O.P” and “Director of Photography” would be three different crafts and a search would find a third of the people who do that job. Pick the closest one and carry on, and tell us what is missing. When we add it, everybody who asked is told and can switch in one tap.

8Who can message me?

Only somebody with a reason. A conversation can start when:

  • you applied to their work, or they applied to yours;
  • a hirer unlocked your contact;
  • or you both follow each other.

Your phone number is never shown until you send it yourself. Blocking somebody stops messages both ways and hides you from them.

9Can people see how many followers I have?

No. Who you follow and who follows you are shown to you, on your Network page and on your own profile, and nowhere else — not on somebody else’s view of your profile, not in search, not to a hirer. A number a hirer can see is a number people chase, and then a number that decides who gets work.

10Does my education matter?

Only if you want it to. There is a Learning section for film school, courses, workshops and who you assisted, it is never asked for when you join, and it is hidden when it is empty. It is not a search filter and it never will be: most camera and lighting crew learned on set, and a filter on education is a way of screening them out.

11Something here is wrong. What do I do?

Report it — there is a report link on every piece of work, post, comment and profile. A person reads every report and you are told what was decided. Report a problem says what happens next. For a formal complaint, or anything about your own data, use the complaints page.

12How do I close my account?

Settings, then “Close my account”. Nothing is removed for seven days, so you can change your mind; after that the account, its rows and every file you uploaded are deleted. If you are the only owner of a business we will say so first and give you both ways out — hand it to somebody else, or close it too.
